In the Shadow of the Smokestack
an oral history of Mexican Americans in Morenci, Arizona

Interviewees

Ten Mexican Americans who lived in Morenci during the Depression and World War II were interviewed for this oral history project. The interviews for most of them were conducted in English and the participants responded in English for the most part. Some words, however, were in Spanish and translations have been provided in parenthesis. Four interviews, Mr. Gomez's, Mr. Herrera's, Mrs. Hernandez, and Mr. Ybarra were totally in Spanish and have been translated into English.
