Eduvigen Navarette Hernandez

Obituary

Edubijen Navarette Hernan-dez, 86, of San Jose passed away April 11, 2005, at her home. She was born to Maximo and Joseph Navarette on Oct. 21, 1918, in Eagle Creek.


At the age of 13, Edubijen began working on the ranch with her parents, helping with cooking in the kitchen and doing other odd jobs.
She met Raul A. Hernandez, whom she married April 5, 1930. They had four children, Rauly Hernandez Jr. of San Jose, Jesus "Chuy" Hernandez of Phoenix, Nazario Hernandez of Clifton and Irene H. Montoya of San Jose. Edubijen also had 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and working in her yard, where she cared for flowers and trees. Her biggest loves were her canaries, which she spent endless hours taking care of and listening to them sing.


A rosary was recited by Deacon Carl Vessels on April 15 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford. The eulogy was given by Alfredo (Poncho) Navarette. A resurrection Mass was April 16 at St. Rose of Lima with Father Ariel Lustan as celebrant. Interment was at Safford Union Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Safford Funeral Home.
