World War II

"My brothers worked in the company and then went to the service. Only Sabino won a Purple Heart because he was wounded. The others came home okay. They were all in the army. My mother suffered very much during that time. I stayed with her and she was in the hospital. They put gallons of water in her because of her heart and they said she had goiter. She passed that time suffering and because of the boys.

They gave us books with stamps to be able to buy groceries. I tell them that now if there is going to be a war again that will happen. They gave us a book for the sugar, for everything they gave us one. "
