These classes are for all levels: beginners to experienced. Everyone can create with clay!

 

 
 

 

Adult Classes

A lump of clay offers a whole new world of creative possibilities. Discover how slabs and coils become interesting shapes and forms. We'll explore these new skills in hand building and learn decorative techniques using textures and colorful glazes and underglazes.

Wednesdays 9 to 12 PM, Saturdays 10 to 1 PM as scheduled

Open Enrollment: Start any Wednesday, start at any level!

Maximum of 5 students

Fee: 7 classes $100, plus $20 for materials & firing

 

 
 

Summer Youth Classes

This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to explore the world of hand building through using clay. We will pound it, poke it, roll it, make textures in it, and look at pictures of items made of clay. Students will learn the basic techniques in clay construction including slab, coil and pinch. The last class of this five week course will be dedicated to glazing the students' work.

Schedule: Wednesdays 2 to 4 PM

Ages: 6-12 - Maximum of 5 students

June 13 to August 8, 2007 (No class June 27th)

Book Making Workshops

 

 
 

Beginning Mini-Book Making Workshop (5 Hour version)

In this five hour workshop, Elena will show you how to create your very own mini-books. In the first hour, you’ll begin by painting paper that will later be folded, torn, woven, etc. to create book covers. In the following hours you'll make several paper books utilizing clever folding techniques. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have several nifty books or journals to keep or use as gifts. Elena will discuss options for incorporating found items into your work. Fun projects for using the books are suggested. No drawing or painting skills needed!


Supplies:
The emphasis will be on making books with inexpensive tools and recycled materials when possible. Pre-cut materials, paint, tools, such as scissors and glue sticks, will be provided free. However, you are welcome to bring your own scissors if you prefer. An instructional booklet will also be provided at no additional cost. This workshop promises to be a fun, creative way to incorporate your found/saved objects such as fiber scraps, pictures, stamps, cards, buttons, beads, charms, etc. into a book. So if you have any you’d like to use, bring them!

Fee:
